  • Service design for healthcare workflows

The problem

As Singapore moves towards a super-aged society, aged care facilities face growing pressure to care for more residents with limited staff capacity.

1 in 4 citizens will be older than 65 years old by 2030, leading Singapore to becoming a super-aged society.

A deeper dive into reality

Technology meant to ease the burdens ending up creating complexity instead.

Care workers juggled multiple tools alongside hands-on care, creating fragmented workflows that took attention away from staff and resident needs.

✦ Key questions

  • Study Objective

How might we integrate new technologies that support care staff without increasing their already overwhelming workload?

  • Study Enquiry

Can care staff needs be fully supported—and even surpassed—without adding to their already heavy routines?

✦ Outcome

A revamped work system integrating several tools to automate workflows by 75% to focus on human care.

🔧 Solution

A multimodal system (mobile app + AI + sensors) automated manual tasks.

✨ Impact

Workflows 79% faster → 8 hours saved per ward daily.

✦ Solution

What we did

We designed a multimodal system designed to address key challenges in nursing homes, shifting from manual to automated processes.

✦ Conclusion

Through co-design with care staff, engineers, and management, we created a scalable solution that reduces workload, minimizes learning burdens, and most importantly, gives care staff more time for what matters most:

Compassionate care.
